THE AI INTERVIEW

“ WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE CIO ROLE, IT HAS EVOLVED FROM A SPECIFIC TECHNOLOGY FOCUS INTO A BUSINESS FOCUS”

Lutz Beck Chief Information Officer Daimler Truck North America
“ My emails are partly automated nowadays,” Lutz says.“ I’ m still the human in the loop and I control everything, but on the other side, everything is prepared.”
He also references emerging AI agents, including a Microsoft tool currently in private preview.
“ You configure it yourself and say,‘ this is how I want the things done and this is exactly what the agent is doing,’” Lutz explains. " I’ m looking at everything that is making my day easier and more efficient and getting rid of all the non-value-adding topics.”
Beyond his own workflow, Lutz oversees how AI is introduced companywide, including training, culture change and identifying the use cases that deliver genuine value.
He also highlights the ethical element of AI deployment, an area he believes CIOs are well placed to address given rising concerns about misuse, including AI-assisted hacking.
Cultural change, he stresses, cannot be achieved through conventional training alone, since it involves shifting how people think about – and behave around – AI systems. aimagazine. com 25
