From off-road electrification to an 800 VDC power platform, DIMAAG’ s Satish Padmanabhan and Ian Wright are bringing EV innovation to AI infrastructure
S atish Padmanabhan has spent more than three decades building companies where computing meets the physical world. Across semiconductor design, enterprise software, AI and advanced computing, he has carried technologies from early concept through to commercialisation and collected more than 20 US patents along the way. DIMAAG, which he founded in Silicon Valley in 2018, brought him back to where his career began.
“ This actually comes back to my roots, because my master’ s was in the AI field,” he says.“ I’ ve done many semiconductor chips, so I’ m very familiar with the GPUs of the world and how to make them.”
The company started by applying AI to smart factories, a business that still runs at scale: DIMAAG systems now perform roughly 220 million quality inspections of hard-disk actuators every month. From there the company moved into high-power electrification for off-road and autonomous vehicles. Today, with offices in the US, India and Japan, DIMAAG applies that same engineering to the problem its founders believe matters most in the AI era: the electrical architecture of hyperscale data centres.
