CVAT describes itself as a complete toolkit for scalable data annotation. The platform turns raw visual data into datasets. It began in 2017 as a tool to help computer vision engineers label training data. In 2018, the team released the project as open source on GitHub named CVAT( Computer Vision Annotation Tool) and it spun off as an independent company in 2022. The tool can run in CVAT cloud, on a firm’ s own infrastructure, or the company offers to do the work.
