The publication provides a warning on surging electricity demand from data centres while also outlining AI ' s vast potential to drive energy efficiency and accelerate the clean energy transition.

The IEA launches its first-of-a-kind Energy and AI Observatory, a publicly accessible platform for real-time data and analysis on the energy-AI nexus.

Designed to be a cornerstone for transparency, the observatory provides policymakers and industry leaders with the tools needed to monitor data centre energy consumption and track AI’ s role in optimising energy systems.
