AI ASSISTANTS Without that understanding, Rich says, even advanced AI assistants can produce answers that sound convincing but miss how an organisation actually functions day to day.
Genie One is powered by what Databricks calls the Genie Ontology, a live layer that continuously learns from an organisation’ s data, systems and internal knowledge.
Rich explains how this differs from a standard AI assistant:“ Genie Ontology understands the relationships between an organisation’ s documents and systems, rather than simply interpreting prompts or individual files in isolation. That means it can deliver responses that reflect how the business actually works.”
The goal here is to reduce the time employees spend searching for information or double-checking
AI-generated answers. It also extends access to data beyond technical teams, while keeping existing governance and security controls in place.
Putting data in non-technical hands Rich says the clearest benefit of Genie One is speed: putting trusted data directly into the hands of the people who need it, without having to wait for a specialist to produce it.
He offers an example of a sales leader in a meeting with the CEO who needs figures on the spot – rather than promising to follow up later.
“ Instead of saying they’ ll come back with the numbers, they can instantly access the latest data insights on their mobile device, analyse information in real time and respond to market shifts as they happen,” Rich says.
