The uses of generative AI
Generative AI can be used by the video game industry in a number of ways , including :
1 . Procedural content generation : Generative AI can be used to create game content , such as levels , environments , characters and items , automatically . This can save time and resources for game developers and offer players a unique and varied gameplay experience .
2 . NPC behaviour : Generative AI can be used to create non-playable characters ( NPCs ) with more realistic and varied behaviours . NPCs can learn and adapt to player actions , making the game feel more immersive .
3 . Dialogue generation : Generative AI can be used to generate dialogue for NPCs , making them feel more like real characters with unique personalities and responses .
4 . Game balancing : Generative AI can be used to balance game mechanics , such as difficulty levels and rewards , based on player behaviour and feedback .
5 . Player modelling : Generative AI can be used to model player behaviour and preferences , allowing the game to adapt to each player ' s individual playstyle . of a tree , we actually need machine learning because then it ’ s not clear anymore what is part of the building and what is not , because of the overlap of the shadow — but then , machine learning completes the remaining part of the building .”
Generative AI is an increasingly popular topic in gaming . Earlier this year , Roblox said it was testing a tool that could accelerate the process of building and altering in-game objects by getting AI to write the code . The tool lets anyone playing Roblox create items such as buildings , terrain , and avatars ; change the appearance and behaviour of those things ; and give them new interactive properties by typing what they want to achieve in natural language , rather than complex code .
